You have to fight for what God is doing in your life!

The enemy will try to fool you and intimidate you by belittling the work God is doing in and through your life.

That’s been one of the devil’s favorite tactics throughout history, and he won’t hesitate to do the same to you.

Scripture says…

Nehemiah 4:1-3 NKJV
[1] But it so happened, when Sanballat heard that we were rebuilding the wall, that he was furious and very indignant, and mocked the Jews. [2] And he spoke before his brethren and the army of Samaria, and said, “What are these feeble Jews doing? Will they fortify themselves? Will they offer sacrifices? Will they complete it in a day? Will they revive the stones from the heaps of rubbish-stones that are burned?” [3] Now Tobiah the Ammonite was beside him, and he said, “Whatever they build, if even a fox goes up on it, he will break down their stone wall.”

The enemy tries to say that what you are praying, what you are doing, what you are declaring will not work or comes to pass.

He tries to place thoughts in your mind and in your heart of defeat and discouragement.

Your enemy will do what he can to belittle the ability of God in your eyes.
But you don’t have to stand by and take his lies!

What did the people of Nehemiah’s time do?
They prayed!

Nehemiah 4:4-9 NKJV
[4] Hear, O our God, for we are despised; turn their reproach on their own heads, and give them as plunder to a land of captivity! [5] Do not cover their iniquity, and do not let their sin be blotted out from before You; for they have provoked You to anger before the builders. [6] So we built the wall, and the entire wall was joined together up to half its height, for the people had a mind to work. [7] Now it happened, when Sanballat, Tobiah, the Arabs, the Ammonites, and the Ashdodites heard that the walls of Jerusalem were being restored and the gaps were beginning to be closed, that they became very angry, [8] and all of them conspired together to come and attack Jerusalem and create confusion. [9] Nevertheless we made our prayer to our God, and because of them we set a watch against them day and night.

They prayed and they SET A WATCH.
The people, according to scripture, “had a mind to work.”

When the threats of the enemy came their way, they prayed and then got busy.

As they completed the work that God was doing in their life, it made their enemies mad.

I’m telling you…
What God is doing in your life is making the enemy ANGRY…so don’t stop.

What God is doing is WORKING…so don’t stop.

What God is doing is setting the enemy on his head…so don’t stop.

Begin to fight in prayer for the work of God to be completely completed in your life and DON’T STOP!

The enemy uses fear and intimidation to undermine the work of the people of God.

It’s the same tactic that was used against Nehemiah and the people of God…but IT WILL NOT WORK!

The tactic didn’t work then and IT WON’T WORK NOW!
God is rebuilding what had been torn down by the enemy and weathered by time, but YOU and your work, and your willingness to fight are integral to the process.

What was the first thing Nehemiah did?
He set a watch.
He instituted a security system.

Scripture says, “Nevertheless we made our prayer to our God, and because of them we set a watch against them day and night.”

When the enemy is on the warpath, we have to ask ourselves if we have “set a watch.”

  • Are we paying attention?
  • Are we making sure to cover the gaps in our life with prayer?
  • Are we praying for our family?
  • Are we praying for our circle?
  • Are we praying for our church and our leaders?

Have we set up our spiritual security system…comprised of the prayer and the Holy Spirit?
Here’s the declaration from Nehemiah’s day…

Nehemiah 4:13-14 NKJV
[13] Therefore I positioned men behind the lower parts of the wall, at the openings; and I set the people according to their families, with their swords, their spears, and their bows. [14] And I looked, and arose and said to the nobles, to the leaders, and to the rest of the people, “Do not be afraid of them. Remember the Lord, great and awesome, and fight for your brethren, your sons, your daughters, your wives, and your houses.”

God wants to heal your hurt…
And it will happen as you rebuild the things of God in your life.
He wants to work again…and he will work THROUGH YOU.
He wants to move again…and he will move THROUGH YOU.
He wants to build again…and he will build THROUGH YOU.

It’s a great work.
It’s a powerful work.
It is a restorative work.

What you think cannot happen, will happen.
The things the enemy told you were GONE, and LOST, God the Lord will restore, but it’s a work that happens when you set your hands to work.

To seek him.
To pray.
To fight for righteousness in your life.
To fight for your family and children.
To build up what is torn down.
To stand for his word.
To lift up the name of Jesus.
To lift up the standard of the Holy Spirit.

It’s a work of God but the work comes THROUGH YOU!

You have to pray.
You have to fight for your family.
You have to fight for your children.
You have to fight for the values you hold dear.
You have to fight for the spiritual well-being of your soul.

We cannot afford in this day, to sit idly by and let whatever happens, happen.

There must be a “fighting” effort in the hearts of God’s people.

God always works THROUGH PEOPLE.
It is his way!

I believe the Lord gave me a word for you and that he says…

“Strap on the sword, for the battles will come, but I will come too.
I will do a work in you and through you. What the enemy means for fear, I will turn to courage.
What the enemy means for harm, I will turn on his own head, but I need fighters.
I need people who will rise up and seek me, find me, and follow me.
Let your hands be strong and courageous for the Lord will work through you a work that causes the enemy to crumble.”

I’m also hearing the Lord say…

The Lord wants to give you discernment, so that you can understand what the enemy is doing and pray against it.

We must seek God for this discernment.
The people of God need to understand the times in which we live and rely upon the Holy Spirit for direction and insight.

He won’t leave us without a knowledge of what to do.

Even if the ONLY WORD we receive from God is a simple, “trust me”…we can be assured that when God says, “trust,” it means EVERYTHING is going to go according to God’s plan.

Nehemiah 4:15-18 NKJV
[15] And it happened, when our enemies heard that it was known to us, and that God had brought their plot to nothing, that all of us returned to the wall, everyone to his work.

God HAS brought the enemy’s plot to nothing!
We ARE on the winning side!
God WILL come through just like he said!

[16] So it was, from that time on, that half of my servants worked at construction, while the other half held the spears, the shields, the bows, and wore armor; and the leaders were behind all the house of Judah. [17] Those who built on the wall, and those who carried burdens, loaded themselves so that with one hand they worked at construction, and with the other held a weapon. [18] Every one of the builders had his sword girded at his side as he built. And the one who sounded the trumpet was beside me.

The way we take up the weapons and the way we “strap on the sword,” is through our willingness to pray and seek God.

Every time the enemy of my soul attacks me personally, it ALWAYS has something to do with stopping my prayer, or the intensity of my prayer life.

But I’m telling you…
Your prayer is your ultimate weapon.
Your prayer submits your heart to God.
Your prayer opens heaven.
Your prayer opens your heart to the Holy Spirit.
Your prayer moves mountains when it operates in connection with faith.

The Lord will give us spiritual awareness and discernment that we are unable to possess on our own.
The Lord will open up the enemy’s plan before our eyes so that we have the opportunity to pray in advance and prepare the way.

God needs you NOW more than ever to take up the fight, so that he can work through you, building his plan, operating his power, making his way.

The word I hear is “discernment.”

Have you ever stopped to think about why something is happening in your life?

Have you ever stopped to ask yourself why your thoughts seemed to be bogged down, or your energy seems to wane, or your desire for the word had ups and downs?

The enemy wants to lull the people of God into a place of sleep, or complacency.

If the devil can shut us down from hearing the clear call of the Holy Spirit, we won’t discern what God is trying to do in our life.

But here’s the truth…

God wants to fill you up with foreknowledge that gives you the UPPER HAND!

Jesus told his disciples this same thought…

John 16:12-15 NKJV
[12] “I still have many things to say to you, but you cannot bear them now. [13] However, when He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth; for He will not speak on His own authority, but whatever He hears He will speak; and He will tell you things to come. [14] He will glorify Me, for He will take of what is Mine and declare it to you. [15] All things that the Father has are Mine. Therefore I said that He will take of Mine and declare it to you.

The Spirit of God is preparing his people for the work and for the war.

He is and WILL CONTINUE to equip our hands and hearts to carry on the work and fight the battle.

God’s plea to us is for open hearts and listening ears.
The battle will not take out the people of God.

God is NOT DONE with his people.

Just as in Nehemiah’s time…

The enemy might declare defeat, but the BATTLE BELONGS TO THE LORD.

The enemy might declare defeat, but the BATTLE BELONGS TO THE LORD. Share

Even if it looks like defeat, the God of the universe is able to bring victory out of nothing for the people of God.

So the Lord says, “lift up your head, my people…I will be magnified among you and in you.”

God Has Equipped You For The Fight, And Through His Discernment, And Strength, You Will Win.

My heart is for the church that Jesus is building and returning for...the church that the gates of hell will not prevail against.
More than anything, the desire of my heart is to see the greatest revival of the Holy Spirit, salvations, spiritual awakening, and for the miraculous to come back to the church, preparing believers for the return of Jesus.
