It’s time for you as a believer to stand your guard and stand your ground!

We no longer live in the seemingly utopian time of a Christian nation, or worldview.

Sad to say but…
Gone are the days when a believer could take for granted that everyone knows and understands the fundamental truths and deeply held beliefs of scripture.

There would most likely be a division in any size gathering of believers over certain topics today.

Even among the church, we cannot seem to agree…I’m speaking of the church in the earth.

We are not to be like the world!
In the world, certainly…
Everything is squabbled about.
Everything is scrutinized.
Everything is a hairpin trigger.

But the fact is…
Even in scripture, the people couldn’t agree on everything, certainly much more so now.

But this is NOT a message of fear and calamity.
The Bible says…

2 Timothy 1:7 NKJV
[7] For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.

Fear is not simply an emotion, it is also a spirit…a spirit that DOES NOT come from the Lord.

The people of God are NOT to pick up and embrace the fear that everything and everyone in the world seems to be propagating right now.

We are not to live our life wringing our hands and worrying over what comes next.

The Lord has given us his power, his love, and a sound mind.

This is not a message of discouragement, but rather of light in a dark place.

Listen, I’m telling you the truth…

John 1:1-5 NKJV
[1] In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. [2] He was in the beginning with God. [3] All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made. [4] In Him was life, and the life was the light of men. [5] And the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend it.

When we truly realize where it is our feet have landed, we will be able to get out of any place where we should not be.

Because the LIGHT of Jesus leads us and guides us.

Remember, scripture says…

Ephesians 5:8-13 NKJV
[8] For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Walk as children of light

In this day and age we must be ever so careful HOW and WHERE we walk, because there are cultural, political, and satanic LANDMINES everywhere.

People, ideas, and movements will blow up on the unsuspecting with a ferocity that many haven’t seen in their lifetime.

Culture is waiting on the believer to mess up so that they can attack us on our ways of thinking and on what we believe.
Culture is under the inspiration of the evil one.
He is the one who presently fights and wars against the believer through all of these things we face.
Scripture calls him the “prince of the power of the air.”

We wage war against these satanic forces…
Principalities, powers, rulers of this present darkness.

But, the Bible goes on to say…

[9] (for the fruit of the Spirit is IN all goodness, righteousness, and truth), [10] finding out what is acceptable to the Lord.

Certainly THIS, this is the idea believers need to concern themselves with…finding out and understanding what is acceptable to the Lord.

Why? Because…
We are not living for the approval of people, organizations, culture, or government…but everything we do should be the result of seeking the Lord and, ABOVE ALL, seeking to please HIM!!

  • No matter what people around us like or dislike, we are to please the Lord.
  • No matter what culture stands for or against, we are to please the Lord.
  • No matter what the world says is number one, we are to please the Lord.

We the people of God are to place the wants and desires of the Lord above ALL ELSE in our life, and we are to live our lives to please Jesus no matter what happens to us or around us.

I believe the people of God are quickly approaching our “Daniel” moment, when we have to make our decisions about what we will continue to do and believe in spite of the obvious opposition.

In fact, here is our instruction from scripture regarding anything that lives in darkness rather than light…

[11] And have NO FELLOWSHIP with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather expose them. [12] For it is shameful even to speak of those things which are done by them in secret.

The world is full of dark secrets.
Everyone has their dark secret to protect.
By our life…
By our heart…
By our actions…
By our words…
Believers are positioned to EXPOSE the darkness surrounding us and our family, the church, and even the nation.

We are in the position to live in the truth, and that’s why the world hates the people of God…because by simply living our life we convict them of living a lie.

When people don’t want to be around you, and you’ve done nothing wrong, it’s because YOUR LIFE convicts THEIR LIFE.

[13] But all things that are exposed are made manifest by the light, for whatever makes manifest is light.

The unfortunate truth in our present day Christian experience is this…

The people of God must guard against ATTACK.

That’s the message that the Lord is really compelling me to declare today.

Attacks may be coming.
Your Daniel moment of decision may be coming.
Don’t back down in the moment.
Don’t give in.

This is not to say that somewhere someone is preparing a den of lions, rather, I’m simply saying that culture itself has become the lion, and certainly, the devil has always walked around like a roaring lion, and the people of God must begin to guard against attack.

Stand your ground, people of God!

Not out of fear do we guard, but out of wisdom and from the responsibility of knowing that God has positioned you WHERE YOU ARE IN LIFE, for his purposes.

Satan wants to stop you BEFORE you can fulfill your PURPOSE.

So, the people of God MUST guard against attack.

There are at least four types of attack coming.

First of all…
Attacks on our heart.

The Bible says…

Mark 7:20-23 NKJV
[20] And He said, “What comes out of a man, that defiles a man. [21] For from within, out of the heart of men, proceed evil thoughts, adulteries, fornications, murders, [22] thefts, covetousness, wickedness, deceit, lewdness, an evil eye, blasphemy, pride, foolishness. [23] All these evil things come from within and defile a man.”

The attack on our heart is something meant to corrupt us from the INSIDE OUT.

Don’t let anything that the world has to offer, lead you to sin.
Don’t let sin reign over your life.
Don’t let sin stop your purpose and destiny.
Don’t think that you are too spiritually mature to fall for sin…because when we think we stand, we must take care not to fall.

Attacks in our mind.

There is such a juxtaposition of ideas in our present time.
Darkness and light come right next to each other and form a hard dividing line.

Satan will do his best to battle in your mind and lead your thinking to dark places instead of to the light.

Things like discouragement, sorrow, pride, and the desire to give up…these are dark things that the enemy seeks to sow into your mind.

He will use people, situations, and anything necessary to win the battle for your thoughts.

So scripture tells us what to do.

Philippians 4:6-8 NKJV
[6] Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; [7] and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. [8] Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy-meditate on these things.

Attacks from people.
This is Satan’s bitterness strategy.

IF the devil can get you to be bitter…
It will fester and grow into something that corrupts your heart, mind, and life.

Bitterness over the past.
Bitterness against people.
Bitterness over lost opportunities, squandered purpose, and wrong roads.
All of these are seeds the enemy of your soul will sow into bitter roots.

Attacks on what we deeply believe.

There is coming a time when all the things you hold deeply in your heart, the beliefs that build and affect your faith, will be tried.

The Bible says…

1 Peter 4:12-14 NKJV
[12] Beloved, do not think it strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened to you; [13] but rejoice to the extent that you partake of Christ’s sufferings, that when His glory is revealed, you may also be glad with exceeding joy. [14] If you are reproached for the name of Christ, blessed are you, for the Spirit of glory and of God rests upon you. On their part He is blasphemed, but on your part He is glorified.

Scripture says…

Matthew 24:23-25 NKJV
[23] “Then if anyone says to you, ‘Look, here is the Christ!’ or ‘There!’ do not believe it. [24] For false christs and false prophets will rise and show great signs and wonders to deceive, if possible, even the elect. [25] See, I have told you beforehand.

The people of God must guard against ATTACK.

Not only do we guard, but we must discover how to defend from attacks.

What weapons do we have at our disposal?
Scripture says THIS about our weapons…

2 Corinthians 10:4-5 NKJV
[4] For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, [5] casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ,

Our weapons are Mighty to pull down strongholds, which is exactly what an attack is meant to produce.

Remember the fundamental weapons of choice:
Prayer first. – Strengthens the heart.
Knowing the Word. – Strengthens the mind.
Using the word, declare and defend with truth. – Strengthens faith and resolve.

The Bible says something very important in the book of Jeremiah.

Jeremiah 21:8 NKJV
[8] “Now you shall say to this people, ‘Thus says the LORD: “Behold, I set before you the way of life and the way of death.

There is a door to life, and a door to death.
Jesus IS the door to LIFE!

We must realize that…
God’s doors are weapons.
They are a way of escape.

Scripture says…

1 Corinthians 10:13 NKJV
[13] No temptation has overtaken you except such as is common to man; but God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to bear it.

  • We are tempted with sin.
  • We are tempted with bitterness.
  • We are tempted with doing our own thing.
  • We are tempted with doubt, discouragement, and giving up.
  • We are tempted to lash out in anger and defend ourselves through ways that won’t glorify Jesus.

The fact is…
We are tempted in MANY and various ways, but God gives a door.

It’s time to use it.
Use the door!

There is always a door…
There is a…
Door of truth.
Door of forgiveness and the ability to let go.
Door of change, repentance, and righteousness as Jesus takes out a cold stony heart and makes it soft, tender, and pliable in his hands, because God is GREATER than our heart.

Revelation 3:19-20 NKJV
[19] As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten. Therefore be zealous and repent. [20] Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and dine with him, and he with Me.

When God stands at the door for you…OPEN IT…walk through it…LET HIM IN…use it…run to it…don’t wait.

The Lord can help you no matter what sort of attack you find yourself facing.

Stand your ground.

Stand your guard.

Don’t back down.

My heart is for the church that Jesus is building and returning for...the church that the gates of hell will not prevail against.
More than anything, the desire of my heart is to see the greatest revival of the Holy Spirit, salvations, spiritual awakening, and for the miraculous to come back to the church, preparing believers for the return of Jesus.
