I never cease to be amazed at how the Lord is able to SPEAK to us as his people.
There is a voice of God that longs to permeate the penetrate the darkness in our life.
It is because of the Lord’s VOICE that the darkness has ended.

That was the word from the past Sunday…The dark night is over.

We need to rest in that.
No matter what we see…we rest in the promise and in the word of God.

But it takes me back several years ago, to something the Lord spoke into my heart, that I thought was only for me, but I am sensing was NOT just for me, but for the people of God.

Frankly, when I first told my wife what the Lord spoke she was like, “OK?”

It was somewhere between 2013 and 2015 that the Lord spoke to my heart one day out of the clear blue.
I was studying and praying, I believe for a Wednesday night service, and the Lord, seemingly randomly said these words…

“The crucible of fire and the dark night of the soul.”

As clear as day I heard those words.
It didn’t fully make sense to me at the moment.

But, how many know that when the Lord speaks it is never random or coincidental?

Although, at the time I didn’t understand what those words really meant for me personally, I understood enough to begin preparing for what I believed the Lord was warning me about.

Sure enough it wasn’t long before personal attacks that I could have NEVER imagined in a million years began to come against me and my family.
It was a horrible time…just to be honest.

During this same season, the enemy attacked my health and physical body, and I had the implosion in my back that literally took me to the point where I could no longer even function.

What most people didn’t realize through that time was that I literally came to the point where my kidneys didn’t work anymore.
Nothing worked.
The pain was SO INTENSE.

During that same season, there were tremendous spiritual attacks against my spirit.
I was so discouraged.
I was distraught.
I really thought I might be finished as a pastor, and I didn’t know how I was going to support my family, or how I would even care for my family.
My mind was swirling.
It truly was, as the Lord had said to me, THE CRUCIBLE OF FIRE AND THE DARK NIGHT OF THE SOUL.
I was IN IT.

But the Lord doesn’t give words of warning without bringing alongside words of help and wisdom.

And even though I didn’t like the words of warning…as it turned out, He gave hope, strength, faith, and a desire to NOT QUIT.

Now, as I look around, I believe there has been for many, a crucible of fire, and a dark night for their soul.

But the darkness has ended.
I’m telling you the dark night season has ended.
Don’t forget that.

So why and what was the purpose for the crucible?
Why the attacks?
Why the setbacks?
Why all the spiritual warfare?

I believe it has to do with something called a MANTLE.

Let’s look at scripture…

2 Kings 2:8 NKJV
[8] Now Elijah took his mantle, rolled it up, and struck the water; and it was divided this way and that, so that the two of them crossed over on dry ground.

Elijah had a MANTLE.
It was more than what we usually ascribe to the word.
It was more than a scarf.

In the Hebrew, the word mantle, literally means…
(CWSB Dictionary) a cloak, splendor, robe, or glory.
In another dictionary, it can simply be viewed as A CLOAK OF GLORY.

Can I tell you something?
Here’s what the Lord keeps bringing back to my heart.

HE HAS A MANTLE FOR YOU.
There is a mantle for you to bear.
There is a mantle for you to carry.
There is a mantle for you to possess, and that will possess you.
There is a mantle that the enemy has fought, and fought HARD to keep you from receiving and wearing.

THAT is the reason for all the fighting and hardship, sometimes loss, and even pain that you may be facing or that you went through.

As sure as I saying this, the Lord spoke these very words to my heart a couple of years ago,
He said, “the battle is for your mantle.”

Don’t get me wrong…
Here’s what I believe from the Lord.

EACH OF US…Is intended to be CARRIERS OF THE GLORY of God.

It is your mantle.
The mantle of God’s glory will work itself out in every person’s life differently, but nonetheless, we are created to be CARRIERS OF THE GLORY OF GOD.

That when the world and culture SEE US, there is something about us that is different.
In this hour, the Lord keeps saying to me that he wants to pour out his glory!
His glory is the next thing on the agenda.

It may not make the headlines, but it WILL affect the masses.
The Lord is raising up HIS PEOPLE in this hour to carry his glory and his presence to such a degree that the lost are drawn to us, miracles happen through ordinary people, and his presence flows and floods into every corner of our life and those we influence.

Think about it…the people you love can and will be impacted by the glory of God on YOUR LIFE. That is the mantle God is going to place on his people and that is the reason for the fighting, problems, sickness, warfare, and every other attack.

It’s not about us…it’s about our mantle.

Our mantle is HIS GLORY!

I’m telling you, the Lord is speaking to my heart so strong about this, every single time I pray.
He is talking about the glory, and how he longs to pour out his glory, and how we are to be filled with his glory.
Something is coming!
When the crucible ends, the glory begins.
I don’t know the complete fruits God is going to produce through his glory, but I know this…I AM MORE HUNGRY FOR HIS GLORY, HIS PRESENCE, HIS SPIRIT, AND HIS POWER THAN I’VE EVER BEEN.

I sense deep in my spirit there is a work going on among God’s people if you will receive it.
God is stirring us up.
He is stirring.
He is moving and shifting things even now.

Where you see problems, God sees setups.
Where you see difficulties, God sees deliverance.
Where you see darkness, God sees light.

For me personally, everything is intensifying.
It’s like the Lord is keeping me up all hours of the night…every night almost.
Speaking about his word, prayer, and so much!
And I DON’T WANT TO MISS A WORD OF WHAT HE IS TRYING TO SAY!

I’m calling on ALL OF US to get HUNGRY.

These are the days of hunger and thirst before the Lord!
We must become more hungry than we have ever been in our life, because as we hunger and thirst, that’s when the mantle of God’s glory will be placed onto and INTO our life.

Elijah and Elisha are the prime example of this in scripture.
Elijah was about to be taken up into heaven…literally raptured.

We know that Elijah, at this present moment, has not died…he was taken up into heaven…raptured away!

Elisha his protégée was going to be left behind to CONTINUE the work.

He needed the anointing.
He needed the glory.
He needed the mantle.

Apart from the glory of God our work will never change lives effectively.
Let’s read their story again…

2 Kings 2:6-14 NKJV
[6] Then Elijah said to him, “Stay here, please, for the LORD has sent me on to the Jordan.” But he said, “As the LORD lives, and as your soul lives, I will not leave you!” So the two of them went on. [7] And fifty men of the sons of the prophets went and stood facing them at a distance, while the two of them stood by the Jordan. [8] Now Elijah took his mantle, rolled it up, and struck the water; and it was divided this way and that, so that the two of them crossed over on dry ground.

Notice…what was it that produced the miracle?
It was the mantle.
What does the word mantle mean? A cloak of glory.

Elijah used the cloak of God’s glory to produce the miracle that happened.
That’s why the enemy battles so hard to keep us down, because he knows if we ever get ahold of God’s glory…nothing will stop the church!

[9] And so it was, when they had crossed over, that Elijah said to Elisha, “Ask! What may I do for you, before I am taken away from you?” Elisha said, “Please let a double portion of your spirit be upon me.”

Elisha exhibits the same spirit of hunger and thirst that we must possess.
Hunger and thirst that says, “Lord, I don’t want just a little…I want double portions of your Spirit, power, and glory!”

If we will seek the Lord in humility, seeking him in this fashion, the Lord will pour his glory upon us…but we have to WANT IT.

Deep down want it.
Hunger for it.

[10] So he said, “You have asked a hard thing. Nevertheless, if you see me when I am taken from you, it shall be so for you; but if not, it shall not be so.”

“If you see me…”
What does this mean for us?
It means that we have to keep our eyes focused on the giver of the glory.

Our eyes cannot be focused on all the battles, problems, sickness, and pain.
Our eyes shouldn’t even be focused on all the amazing things the Lord will do…miracles, healings, deliverances, salvations…even as good as those things are.

Instead…
Our eyes have to fixed on the author and finisher of our faith, so that when he begins to move, and drops the mantle, we SEE IT and PICK IT UP!

We have to SEE IT, but we also have to be willing to PICK IT UP.
God pours out on those who are willing to PICK UP what he is giving!

[11] Then it happened, as they continued on and talked, that suddenly a chariot of fire appeared with horses of fire, and separated the two of them; and Elijah went up by a whirlwind into heaven. [12] And Elisha saw it, and he cried out, “My father, my father, the chariot of Israel and its horsemen!” So he saw him no more. And he took hold of his own clothes and tore them into two pieces.

This signifies a rending of the OLD to make way for the NEW.
God is about to do a NEW THING!

[13] He also took up the mantle of Elijah that had fallen from him, and went back and stood by the bank of the Jordan. [14] Then he took the mantle of Elijah that had fallen from him, and struck the water, and said, “Where is the LORD God of Elijah?” And when he also had struck the water, it was divided this way and that; and Elisha crossed over.

I want to encourage you…
God is about to pour out his glory on his church!
Local churches can and will receive, his church in the earth can and will receive.
To those who are hungry, the glory will flow.
To those who are waiting and watching the glory and mantle of God will fall.
Don’t give up in the middle of your mess, because the night season is OVER, and God is just about to pour out his glory.

Be ready to pick up and USE your mantle.
• For some it might mean a new calling on your life.
• For others it may signify a new level in your prayer life.
• Some are being called to be Remnant Warrior Intercessors and you are about to start hearing the voice of the Lord frequently and if you respond he will use you to change things through prayer.

I believe God is raising up the prophetic gift like never before.
For some it will be moving in a gift of the Spirit they’ve never moved in before…
**But like Elisha, the keys are: **

WHERE we are LOOKING and IF WE WILL PICK UP THE MANTLE AND USE IT.

The mantle will fall, but we must willingly pick it up and use it.
Don’t give up!
Awesome days are ahead!

Let’s agree together and believe for the glory of God to fall on the lives and situations of people who desperately need his touch and anointing.

Larry Shankle

My heart is for the church that Jesus is building and returning for...the church that the gates of hell will not prevail against.
More than anything, the desire of my heart is to see the greatest revival of the Holy Spirit, salvations, spiritual awakening, and for the miraculous to come back to the church, preparing believers for the return of Jesus.
